This feature lets B2B clients export invoice data as CSV files tailored to their accounting needs.
problem
The existing PDF format was poorly suited to accounting and financial reporting workflows.
Clients received their invoices as PDFs — easy to read, but difficult to integrate into accounting tools. Finance teams had to enter the data manually into their systems, which took time, increased the risk of errors and caused frustration. Requirements also varied widely between clients, so a single fixed export format wasn't enough.
approach
I started from how accounting teams actually work to define an export that fits their needs.
I worked closely with clients to understand their requirements: fields to include, expected formats, export frequency and compatibility with their financial tools. Given the variety of needs, I steered the solution towards a configurable CSV export. I then translated these requirements into epics and detailed user stories, and led iterative development with regular client demos, testing at each stage and adjustments based on their feedback.
solution
Rolling out a configurable CSV export that clients can adapt to their accounting workflows.
The solution uses a new backend API endpoint to generate CSV files based on each client's configuration. A dedicated interface lets users choose which fields to include, arrange the columns and set the export frequency. This produces a structured, consistent file ready for accounting reconciliation. The feature was validated in staging before deployment to production.
impact
The feature simplified accounting processes and strengthened the product's value for B2B clients.
Accounting teams can now import invoice data without manual re-entry, reducing processing time and the risk of errors. Each client can adapt the export to their own financial workflows, making it easier to use the product within their existing accounting processes.
